Jameel Mohammed saw the map to high-end fashion to be a dead-end road. He refused to believe the advice from his college professors that luxury brands can only thrive in Milan and Paris. Instead, at 20 years old, he launched KHIRY—a jewelry collection with a very important message: luxury can emerge anywhere and speak to any culture. When KHIRY debuted at Barneys New York, I crafted copy to fully embody Jameel's vision of channeling the beauty and heritage of African Diaspora through every piece, working closely with the designer’s team based in Manhattan.
